Privacy at Facez.

Last updated 3 September 2026

Facez uses personal data to run the service, keep it safe, and introduce people who may choose each other. We do not sell personal data or use it for targeted advertising.

The short version

  • You can start choosing without giving us your name or email.
  • Your contact details stay hidden until you and someone else both choose Interested.
  • We keep the approximate network country attached to a choice, not the IP address used to resolve it.
  • You can pause participation or manage uploaded photos from Your photos.

What we collect

Your activity: an anonymous user ID, choices, skips, results, introductions, responses, optional gender and age-group answers, connections, blocks, reports, and any discussion posts or replies.

If you join: your sign-in email. Before you add a photo, we ask for your date of birth, supported photo-comparison gender, and consent choices. If you set up matching, we also collect who you want to see, your preferred age range, and the contact method to reveal after mutual interest. If you use Google, we receive the account identifier, email, and basic profile information Google provides. If you use email, we receive that address. We use it to sign you in, manage your account, and, only when you opt in, send photo approval and first-result updates.

Your photos: the images you upload, their review status and separate comparison results, your current-photo selection, and matching scores derived from the current photo.

Service and safety data: timestamps, upload attempts, security checks, and basic request, device, error, and aggregate website analytics data processed by us or our service providers. Website analytics can include the page visited, referrer, approximate location, browser, operating system, and device type. We do not use it for advertising.

Approximate choice location: We use your approximate network country to create aggregate location insights. We do not store your IP address. The request IP is used briefly to resolve the country, then only the two-letter country code is stored with the comparison batch and choices. We do not treat network country as nationality or residence.

Why we use it

  • To provide Facez and manage your account, under our contract with you.
  • To show photo comparisons and make introductions when you consent. Your gender and who you want to see may reveal sexual orientation, so we use this information for matching only with your explicit consent.
  • To prevent abuse, moderate content, secure Facez, and improve the service where our legitimate interests do not override your rights.
  • To create aggregate country results for photos, Taste Twin insights, and public participation totals.
  • To send photo approval and first-result emails when you ask us to.
  • To meet legal obligations and establish or defend legal claims.

How automated matching works

Your choices teach a model which faces you tend to prefer. Facez estimates how likely you and each compatible person are to choose one another and uses those estimates to prioritize the strongest two-way possibilities when space is available. These estimates are uncertain, change with more data, and do not determine legal rights. You can stop matching or ask us about a result at any time.

Who sees your data

Other members may see your approved photo in anonymous comparisons. Facez never includes your name or contact details with it. The contact method you chose is shared only after you both choose Interested. Discussion posts and their public handles are visible to anyone.

We use service providers to operate Facez, including providers of sign-in and identity services; account databases and file storage; website hosting and delivery; optional transactional email; photo processing and model computation; and security and abuse prevention. These providers may receive the account, photo, device, and usage data needed to provide those services. We may also disclose data when required by law or needed to protect people and Facez.

Vercel hosts and delivers the website and provides privacy-focused website analytics. We strip URL fragments and query parameters from analytics events, except for fixed campaign labels that distinguish three Facez geography-launch posts on X. We also exclude discussion thread identifiers, visits to the admin area, and custom interaction events. We use the resulting aggregate statistics only to understand and improve Facez.

IPinfo receives the request IP long enough to return an approximate country for a comparison batch. Facez stores the resulting country code with eligible choices and does not store the source IP address.

Some providers may process data outside your country. Where required, we rely on recognised safeguards such as adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses.

Retention and deletion

We keep account data while your account is active and keep other records only as long as needed for the service, safety, disputes, or legal duties. Deleting your account removes your profile and uploaded photos and deletes or de-identifies account-linked service records. Limited non-identifying statistics or necessary safety and legal records may remain. We cannot remove a copy or screenshot saved by another person.

Your choices and rights

Depending on the law and how we use your data, you may ask to access, correct, delete, restrict, or receive it, and you may object to certain uses. You can withdraw consent at any time. This does not affect processing already carried out lawfully.

Use Profile in Facez or email support@facez.app. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.

Adults only

Facez is for people aged 18 or over. If you believe someone under 18 has given us personal data, contact us so we can investigate and remove it.
